NASA Public Engagement at Three Rivers Community C
NASA Public Engagement at Three Rivers Community College NASA is coming to Three Rivers Community College for a presentation that is free and open to the public on Friday, March 12, 2010 in the Tinnin Center. The lecture, given by John Weis of the Marshall Space Flight Center, is entitled “The Solar System and Beyond”. The lecture is for all ages and will be from 7-9 p.m. The lecture tries to answer the questions that are currently on the minds of young and old alike such as: What happened to Pluto? Why don’t we send astronauts to Venus? How many moons does Jupiter have? How many other planets are out there and how do we know? So join us and take an audio-visual tour through the Solar System and beyond to distant galaxies. Learn about some of the NASA missions that have helped us learn more about space. Come hear NASA Specialist John Weis talk about what we know and what we are still learning when it comes to our local celestial neighborhood and beyond. John Weis is also here to perform a series of workshops for the educators at Three Rivers Community College if you are interested: John Weis will be here to perform workshops for pre-certification educators, certified educators and post secondary educators for Moon Rock Certification. Educators will be trained and certified to receive Moon Rocks for display in their classrooms in the Bootheel. Seating is limited in the Moon Rock workshops.
